Today, 1st of March, 2015 is such a beautiful day. Actually, the whole weekend, starting from Friday have been a beautiful reflection of God, His friendship and His mercy. Today’s service kind of brought tears to my eyes. One of the pastors talked about this man that impacted his life so much just by shining for Christ. The pastor went to a youth church (He did not really believe in God) and his life got transformed. God used a youth pastor who is now dead to bring him to God. He talked about how important it is to let your light shine and to live for Christ. To show love, undeserving love and let your life preach Christ. My eyes were filled with tears because of the way he talked about that man. It was obvious that this was a man that was a living witness for God, a man that touched lives like God instructs us and I prayed in my heart that I would bring someone to Christ through my actions and just the way I live my life. But I know I cannot do that if i am neither here not there.
I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. ~ Rev 3: 15-16 (ESV)
We all know the world is becoming increasingly dark. I mean, I see and hear somethings and I cannot but marvel at God’s mercy. Just like the Pharisees and the Sadducees did, the world is seriously fighting God and yet, He has mercy. Yet, He lets the sun shine on both the wicked and good. Isn’t that beyond your understanding? Does that not make you go on your knees and thank Him for his grace and mercy? I mean we are like filthy rags, yet this God fellowships with us. He invites us into his presence. Are we worthy of such honour?
In this dark world, the world needs soldiers, christian soldiers that are confident in their God and their faith. Christian Soldiers that will not dare dim their light because of the world, but would rather let it be the touchlight in the dark, safely leading the world to the feet of Jesus. In John 15: 16, Jesus said: “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain…” In John 15, Jesus talked extensively about fruits and how He is the true vine and in my own words, a branch cannot really get nourishment except its fully planted in the tree and that’s except you have an intimate relationship with God, you can’t grow. We are the lights of the world and these lights are meant to bring forth fruit, but darling, how are you going to grow enough to produce fruits if you are here today and there tomorrow? Instability puts you in the middle and in this dark, dark world, darlings are we meant to be unstable?
When it comes to important life decisions, I like to believe we do not choose to be on the fence. We choose what to do. We decide for ourselves and that’s how we can really go forward. Darlings, It is the same way we have to decide whether we want to be God’s remnants on Earth. The Bible says if you are lukewarm, God will spit you out of His mouth. Jesus said any branch that does not bear fruit will be cut off. I don’t think we understand how important it is for us to choose whose side we are going to be on. I know many of us will say we have chosen a side, but if your life is not reflecting that side you have chosen, can you really say you have chosen that side?
If the world is your standard and Jesus isn’t, are you really a branch bearing his fruits? If you choose the side of light and your life is wrapped in darkness, are you really for God? Remember, if you are not for God, then you are against Him and please who stands when they are against God?
Can you say like Peter said that you are not ashamed of the gospel of Christ? (Romans 1:16). Jesus said whosoever is ashamed of me before men, I will also be ashamed of Him before my father (Mark 8:38). Do you want to risk the eternal father being ashamed of you because of mere mortals that can be here today, and gone tomorrow? Guys, we seriously have to ask ourselves these questions. I don’t think we understand how serious this is.
How can we claim to be lights when we drop our lights once we leave the church? We practice religion and forget about having an intimate relationship with him. We forget to build an altar of prayer and praise. So we become so cold, so lifeless. If we are without fire, how are meant to warm the cold hearts of people? If today, we are doing the things of Christs and tomorrow, we are doing the things of the world, how are God and people meant to take us seriously? If you open your mouth to talk to someone about God, how is the person meant to take you seriously when your life negates everything you are saying? If you don’t show love, how are people supposed to believe you when you say God is love?
And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning ~(John 15: 27
I had an inexplicable experience on Friday. I went for fellowship worried about something which no one at the fellowship was aware of. I was so worried that I could not even really pray or praise, but God showed up in a profound way. He spoke directly through one of the guys at the fellowship and I cried. I cried because I was so relieved, but more so because I was amazed at this father I have. Why would I be selfish not to talk about God, not to be a witness and let people experience the kind of joy and peace that only him can give? Why won’t you be a witness for Him? Darlings, a reason can be because we are not sure of whose side we want to stay on. We don’t really want to stick with God because the world will look at us, they will know we are not for them and they might not approve of us. But we want their approval so badly we do not ask for the boldness to speak His word (Acts 4: 29- 30). We have to decide.
Do I want to be for God or against Him?
You cheat yourself when you are here today and there tomorrow.
Whatever you do must have the fragrance of God – Pastor Aaron.
When we do decide, we have to step forward and let our lights shine. You have to decide to live for Him and let Him reflect in everything you do. I mean EVERYTHING. We cannot choose which of His words to obey. We cannot choose to shine for Him in one area and be bleak in another. Your dressing (Ladies!!!), your speech, your life in general should reflect the ancient of days. You have to build an altar for Him in your heart and your home because If you do not know Him well enough, you can’t really tell people about Him. People are going to antagonise you if you are completely for Jesus, but you are not alone. Many have been and will be persecuted for the the sake of the gospel. It is really up to us because I do know the one that sends us on a journey is more than capable of seeing us through and I do know you can never go wrong when you decide to let it be all about Jesus.
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. ~ Matthew 5: 14 -16 (KJV)
It’s really up to us. Do we want to be here or there?0
