Oh how I love spoken word!
I had forgotten how much till I stumbled unto a quote from one of my favourite ones on somebody’s blog. The quote rang a bell but I couldn’t quite remember so I copied and googled the quote and I found the video on YouTube.
And of course I got carried away, I clicked on other old favourites and then some new found ones I couldn’t believe I hadn’t watched already. Soon enough I found myself watching old and new ones with other tabs open by the side with more videos to be watched. I digress.
Here’s the one I picked for today, its by Sarah Kay, a brilliant poet. Watch out, I will definitely be posting more spoken word.
These are the lines I loved the most;
” And she’s going to learn that this life will hit you hard in the face, wait for you to get back up just so it can kick you in the stomach. But getting the wind knocked out of you is the only way to remind your lungs how much they like the taste of air.“
” Because there’s nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shoreline, no matter how many times it’s sent away.“
” But I want her to know that this world is made out of sugar. It can crumble so easily, but don’t be afraid to stick your tongue out and taste it.“
Hope you enjoyed it!
