Hello People! I feel like it’s been ages since I, MSM posted something here (not Mayowa posting on my behalf). I have surely missed you guys. I hope you have been good and have been tapping into the grace that Jesus freely gives to all. It really feels good to be posting. I know lastweek, Mayowa said a series titled ‘Dare to Dream’ will be starting today, but I have something else instead. We will still have the series, definitely as it is a series I believe we will all learn from, but for today, kindly read this article, meditate on the victory that comes with knowing God and kindly share. Have a blessed week folks!
Our God is a victorious God and He want us to live victoriously because, that is one of the things that depicts His nature. When Jesus was here on earth, He lived a victorious life. There was no time He was defeated; He fought the devil in the wilderness and triumphed over him at the garden of Gethsemane. He fought and triumphed over the flesh; on the cross of Calvary, He defeated sin and death and resurrected gloriously.
God’s desire for us is that we will live victoriously on earth by virtue of the victory He has won for us through the death of Jesus Christ. Jesus said in John 10:10b“……I am come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly.” But many of us are not living in the abundant life which Christ has given us. When we look at churches today, one is likely going to believe that Jesus came more to give us defeated life than abundant life. Many believers are experiencing more defeat now that they are born again than before they got born again. They barely survive in business, in marriage, in health and their needs are not met due to lack of money. But this is not the desire of God for us and it does not glorify His name.
Let’s take a look at this man called David. He was one of the men in the Bible that lived a victorious life. Throughout his reign, he never lost a battle. As Christians we need to know that for us to live a victorious life, we must put things into action because living a victorious life is not automatic. My pastor once said that “things happen when they are made to happen”.
When Goliath came against the Israelites., there were two things Goliath used to intimidate them: his appearance and his words. In 1 Samuel 17, the Bible described Goliath’s appearance, he was six cubits height and a span, he had an helmet of brass upon his head, he was armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekelsbrass. He had greaves of brass upon his legs, a target of brass between his shoulders. The staff of his spear was like a weaver’s beam; and his spear’s weighed six hundred shekels of iron. He also had somebody who go before him carrying a shield to protect him(1 Samuel 17:4-7). His appearance was terrifying. On the other hand, his words were also not funny. They displayed self confidence and were very taunting. With these two things he achieved his goal of terrifying the Israelites, because they gave attention to what they saw.
Fear is one of the weapon the devil use against believers to paralyze their positive thought. He sends fear into the heart of believers using the same method Goliath used for the Israelites. The devil knows that the major gate to the heart of a man are his eyes and his ears, in other words, that problem you are faced with and words that terrify you are false, they are not real. That is why the Bible enjoins us not to live by sight but, by faith. Living by faith simply means living beyond what is seen with the physical eyes and heard with physical ears. You can’t allow the look of things and your negative words rob you of your greatness.
For forty days, nobody could dare Goliath because they were carried away by his appearance and by his words. But for the first time after forty days somebody came around who could dare look beyond Goliath’s look and words. And behold, it was a youth! What made it possible for David to do what others could not do? Because he knew what others did not know; he knew the battle was a spiritual one and not a physical one. He knew it was a battle of gods and not just one between himself and Goliath. He knew the God that was backing him; “……but the people who know their God shall be strong and do exploits”(Daniel11:32). Knowledge is power;“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge……….”(Hosea 4:6).“A wise is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increases strength”(Proverbs 24:5). The knowledge of God that David had made it possible for him to dare the enemy.
David dare to challenge the enemy because he was not afraid of Goliath’s threats, so he decided to give it a try. He decided to fight. If he had not given it a try,he would have ended up in defeat like others. In every area of your life that you have failed, don’t give up keep trying! The battle is not yours but of the Lord. As from this moment delete the word I CAN’T from your mind and replace it with I CAN,“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me”(Philippians 4:13) Even when it looks like there is no hope, just hold onto God, He is your backbone. You are an overcomer!
David refused to allow the enemy to have the final say, so he took possession. You must take possession of your life. It was not the stone in David’s hand that God used to killed Goliath, it was the words of his mouth. He said “this day the Lord will deliver you into my hand and will strike you and take your head from you; and I will give the carcasses of the host of the philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth…….”and that was exactly what happened. If he had said that “this man is so big, if I attempted to fight him, he will kill me” that would have happened. Numbers 14:28 confirms this “as you have spoken in my ear so will I do to you”. You must fill your heart with God’s words. Spend time in His presence, study His words,“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”(II Timothy 2 : 15) Meditate day and night for God to manifest Himself in your life and be mindful of what you say to yourself, your power lies in your tongue use it wisely.0
