Welcome Awesome readers. How was your weekend? I had a really nice weekend. On Friday evening, we had a praise session at my church, Lighthouse International Christian Centre. All we did for two hours was praise and worship God. Not asking him for anything, just praising him for his majesty. It was really refreshing and it’s something I would advice you to do once in a while. Then on Sunday, the church service was ‘Story behind the hymns’. Absolutely amazing and enlightening. Most of us don’t know the names of the composers of the hymns we sing and what brought about the hymns. We did that on Sunday, just singing hymns and learning about the composers. I will like to hear about your own weekend in the comment box. For now, read this old article (It’s still very much applicable), get inspired and go out and change your story. Remain awesome loves!
I am one of the most indecisive people you will ever meet. I change my mind a lot and a times at the last minute after making plans. It’s terrible and I’m working on it but the good thing is, most of the time, I have a reason for changing my mind even if the reason isn’t exactly valid. But for one of the most important things in my life, which is my future, I’m not sure I know where I am going and that’s just terrible.
Don’t get me wrong; I do have plans for my life. I think I have figured out what I have a flare for and if you remember in this post “whats life about“, I talked about not being sure of what I really want to do with my life. This has been a long time battle and every time I feel like I have figured it out, something makes me confused again. Another passion for another thing, another thing I feel will give me a sense of fulfillment and trust me, it can be very annoying. I feel like I should do so many things. I remember telling my dad I want to have a publishing firm in later years. He looked at me and said; ‘you want to do everything. You want to be a psychologist, a sociologist, you want to travel round and research cultures, you want to be a lawyer, you want to be a writer’ and the list went on.
Toyole and I were also talking about the many things we want to do and be and well, jokingly, we concluded we can be everything even though at the back of our minds, we know we might not actually do those many things but a girl can dream right? Besides, who actually says with enough commitment, time and skill management, we can’t do most of the amazing things we mentioned and yes, we do plan on getting married but marriage and kids doesn’t mean dreams shouldn’t be pursued right? I mean the right guy should support us and even push us even if we want to travel round the world right?
Okay I have gone off point.
Toy and I have plans for our lives though they are crazy plans and though I’m still trying to figure out which is my major calling. So what’s your plan?
Where are you going?
What do you see yourself doing five years from now?
It’s so important for you to have a plan for your life but before you can do that, you have to find out what niche you are meant to fill. In other words, you have to find out the purpose God breathed life into you for. Pastor Aduloju has said many times that ‘God doesn’t create waste. For everything he does, he has a reason. Everything you will need to be what he wants you to be, he has already deposited in you. If you don’t become what he sees you as, you failed and not him.’
You know God told prophet Jeremiah that ’BEFORE I FORMED YOU IN THE WOMB, I KNEW YOU. BEFORE YOU WERE BORN, I SANCTIFIED YOU. I ORDAINED YOU A PROPHET TO THE NATION (Jeremiah 1:5 NKJV)’
I like to believe he wasn’t only talking to prophet Jeremiah. He was talking to you and I as well. So You already have it in you. You just have to turn that embedded greatness in your nature to physical greatness that many will see.
Go on the journey of self discovery. It’s a very important journey. After going on that journey, sit down, talk to God, then make plans. Then with the backing and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, devise ways to make those plans materialize. Then put on your armour. The armour of faith, hope, fortitude, perseverance and whatever armour you think you will need because you will face battles along your way. Battles that might make you feel you didn’t choose the right place to go; you didn’t make the right plans. Battles that will make you question your greatness and your purpose in life.
Sweetheart, you were not made by a small God so don’t you dare think small. Don’t you dare have small visions and plans. Most of us will try to hide all that greatness inside us by not speaking out, by not opposing tradition and by not doing the things we should because of the fear of offence. (I plan to write something on fear of offence soon).
Darling, don’t be afraid of the greatness in you. Work on it and walk with people going in your direction so you won’t be distracted by people with no plans or with a different destination. At every stage of your life, be sure you know where you are going and the reason why you are going there. So if you lose your way, you can always get back on track or use another road map to the same destination.
Keep moving. Make sure God is on your side. There is a reason why you are here hon, know it and pursue it.
Toy, I think we know where we are going. We just don’t know which out of the many journeys we should embark on yet. But atleast we are moving and I like where we are heading to now.0
