Why your prayers are not being answered (part 3)

I hope this one won’t be long. If you are just joining us, we have talked about the reasons why our prayers won’t be answered here and here. So kindly read them. I really do hope the darlings that have been following this topic have been blessed. Okay, let’s get right to the final post.

I always pray for God to increase my faith when I am starting to doubt. I know how dangerous doubt is. In James 1: 6-8, the bible says ‘But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the lord…’. I just thought I should put that out there.

God will hide his face from those whose heart is tainted with sin because he is a holy God who cannot behold iniquity. Clean your heart before opening your mouth to pray because as David understood, sin automatically separates us from God. David said, ‘If I regard iniquity in my heart, God will not hear me’ (Psalm 66:18). A major way we sin is by not keeping the commandments of God as were given to Moses. We have to keep the commandments, even the ones that we think are not important enough. God knows I need to stop evaluating and filtering the commandments I keep and those that I don’t keep. If we don’t keep his commandments, our prayers might not be answered at all or in the way they should. (See 1 John 3: 22). Another way we can sin is if we don’t do that which God specifically and personally told us to do. An example is if God tells you to go and pray for someone, but you look at the person and you look at yourself. You are not sure about going to pray for the person because you know the person has far more anointing than you do and you feel lesser, you feel like your prayer might not even work cause the person is ‘hotter’ than you. So you don’t pray for the person though God told you to. Well, it is actually a sin because you called God stupid. I mean, God knows what you carry and what the person carries and he simply does not care. If he gives you an assignment, you do it (the example I gave was something that happened to me. I prayed for the person though after wrestling with my spirit and telling God to give the assignment to someone else. May God not give the assignment meant for you to someone else in Jesus name).

It is very important that we always ask for mercy and forgiveness before we ask anything from God. This is because we were brought forth in iniquity (Psalm 51). 1 John 1: 8 says, ‘If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us’. So we are all sinners who are still chosen by God regardless of the sinful nature. So let us always ask for forgiveness and let us also walk with a bold awareness of our Kingdom citizenship and what is expected of us as ambassadors of Christ on earth. We have dominion over sin through the resurrection of Jesus, so let us be conscious of that and fight sin in whatever way it brings its ugly head.

Please, I am begging you just as I am begging myself. DO NOT LET THE WAY YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE BLOCK THE ANSWERS TO YOUR PRAYERS. It is very important that you let your life reflect God. How can this happen? By walking in an upright way. By reading the word of God (Let it be your breakfast, lunch and dinner. I am personally still asking for grace to do this). By meditating on the word of God. Meditating on the word is an avenue for the Holy Spirit to breathe life into the words you have read and to open your eyes in a deeper way. LOVE!!! Please, do not let religion make you turn people away from God. GOD DID NOT CALL US TO RELIGION; HE CALLED US TO A RELATIONSHIP, A PERSONAL WALK WITH HIM. LOVE the people God has placed on earth with you. It is by loving these people that you show that you love God and there is no way God will not answer your prayers.

Finally, my darlings, you will never receive from God if you don’t learn how to praise him in advance. It is your duty to praise God whether or not he answers your request. So praise. Bishop TD Jakes once said praising God in advance is a way of showing faith, thanking him because you know he will come through. Humans perform better when they know we have confidence in them and I like to believe God is also like that. Praise him and watch him move on your behalf.

That is it my darlings. Thank you for reading and I am looking forward to your contributions. Kindly share this and let’s help educate others. May the heaven always hear our heart cries. ‘Finally, my brethren, be strong in the lord and in the power of his might’ (Eph 6: 10). Remember to always pray for someone, you don’t know what miracles your prayers might be performing. God bless you!

P,S: Sometimes we need to wrestle with God just like Jacob did. Jacob did not let go of God until he blessed him. And that is where consistent service and prayer come in. I do know you can’t wrestle with God if you are not his friend and Jesus explicitly said those that keep his commandments are his friend.
