I saw a post written by Ruby Igwe on Facebook and I was really inspired. I checked her profile in the middle of the night when I couldn’t sleep (I promise I’m not weird) and found many more inspirational short articles by her. I messaged her when I woke up that morning and asked if she could write something for my blog. She sent me the piece you are about to read and I am confident you will be motivated, just as I am. Have a good day loves!

When you are about to deliberately do something detrimentally damaging to others or yourself, by taking a decision, or not taking one, remember that you have only one life, one round, one try. Pinch yourself if you have to, or stare at your hands and ask if you are really real. I do it all the time. This is not a warm up. Right now, your life is leaving you. You are one second closer to dying.

That one second is never coming back.

The race is on! Your race, not you against anyone, you against yourself, to achieve your personal best. In your arena. This is not a dress rehearsal. The camera is already recording. The die is cast. It’s pretty much a countdown to Account Day.

This is not a film trick.

Your decisions are not stunts, they are lasting. You don’t get to come back and try again if you don’t like it, there are no other angles or alternatives, when the game is over you don’t return to where you were if you didn’t save.

Reincarnation as a rationalization for not living life to the full is flawed in that you only know if you were really right or not after you have left this world. Relation-ally, apologies only go so far. Academically, there is no room for rationalizations on your transcript. Graduation is final.

You are not on a customized spin-off of The Vampire Diaries.

So. How much do you really want to not work smart for that degree, or dissertation? Why exactly won’t you plug in extra hours and go the extra mile at work? What’s the real reason you don’t make time for quick catch-ups with your close ones? Where is the benefit of being lazy all the time? And why is your relationship with Him so one sided until times of (your) trouble?

There is no money back for a life not lived. You only live once, and it’s right now. So enter your arena, run your race. Live your life deliberately, you only get one take. Live hard, learn hard, love hard.

I’m talking to me too.
